Day Camps

When school is out, the Club is in. We are open for many school breaks holidays. The cost for camp is $30 a day or $130 a week (during full week camp programs) All students must also have an active annual Club membership ($50 a year) which runs August-July.

FAQs

  1. How do I register? Create an account by clicking HERE. (It will take 1 full business day for us to approve your new account registration. Upon approval you will receive an email from BGCVista@traxsolutions.com)

  2. Does my child have to attend everyday? No, your child can come as needed.

  3. Does my child have to stay the entire time? No, your child does not have to stay the entire time. However, your child will get the most out of the program by staying the entire time.

  4. Does my child need to bring a lunch? For the morning program lunch will not be provided so your child will need to bring a lunch.

  5. What days of the week can my child attend? For the morning program your child can attend on Mondays and Wednesdays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, or Fridays. For the afternoon program your child can attend any days of your choice.

  6. How do I pay? There is an initial charge when you register for the activity and then we will charge your account every week or month depending on the activity chosen.

Character & Leadership Programs

Our Character & Leadership programs serve as a space for youth to explore their self-identity, character traits, and leadership skills while contributing to their communities and helping inspire change.

Youth of the Year

In the 21st-century world and workplace, leadership skills such as communication, goal-setting and teamwork are essential for everyone - especially young people preparing to meet the challenges of adolescence and adulthood. With grassroots beginning in 1947, Youth of the Year has evolved into a comprehensive leadership development program, which includes: 

  • Youth of the Month – Leadership Recognition Program 

  • Junior Youth of the Year – Leadership Readiness Program, and 

  • Youth of the Year – Leadership Development Program 

S.M.A.R.T Girls

A girls only club to explore their own attitudes and values as they build skills for eating right, staying physically fit, getting good healthcare and developing positive relationships.

Talk Tuesdays

Cultivating kindness, member’s social emotional wellness, and expanding knowledge with fun activities and guided discussions.

K-Kids

K-Kids is part of the Jr. Kiwanis Club, sponsored by the Sunrise Kiwanis Club of Vista, for 4th-5th grade Club leaders by staff referral only.  Club participates in various Club member-driven service projects such as supporting the San Diego Humane Society, promoting world peace, community trash cleanups and serving on the Safety Patrol. 

Torch Club

A Torch Club is a powerful vehicle through which young people develop and strengthen their 21st-century leadership skills, giving them a firm foundation of good character and integrity. Torch Club members elect officers and work together to implement projects in the four focus areas: service to Club and community; education; health and fitness; and social recreation.

Wise Guys

Embark on an exciting journey with the Wise Guys Club! Boys are encouraged to join our adventure packed club, where they will unlock the secrets to making smart choices, defusing conflicts, and having a blast with games and engaging activities. Let’s learn, grow, and laugh together while becoming the wisest guys around.

Loom

All about weaving! From scarves to blankets, to beanies to rugs, your imagination is the only limit! Unleash your inner artist as you explore a rainbow of yarn options and patterns.

Sewing

It’s getting colder and colder out there! Prepare yourself for this winter by making your own yarn crafts to stay cozy all season.

3D Printing

Watch as digital dreams become reality! Participants get hands-on experience with 3D printers, learning about the printing process, materials, and the technology behind transforming digital designs into physical objects. It's a captivating journey from concept to creation.

Crafty Club

Dive into a world of endless possibilities as our Crafty Creators explore a diverse array of DIY projects. From painting and pottery to paper crafts and beyond, each session is a journey into the exciting realm of self-expression.

Digital Design

In our Digital Design program, young artists are introduced to the diverse and vibrant world of digital design. Using state-of-the-art digital tools and software, kids can experiment with colors, shapes, and textures to create digital masterpieces that reflect their unique style and vision.

Crochet Club

An intro to crocheting with step by step instructions. Members will learn the basic stitches, create individual pieces, and gain fundamental knowledge.

 

Healthy Lifestyles

Our healthy habits program helps Club members learn the basics of nutrition and the importance of making healthy lifestyle choices.

 

Big & Little Chefs

In this Club, kids will compete to make healthy, fun, and good-looking dishes, while also learning daily life skills like cleaning, sharing, helping each other, and working together. 

Garden Club

Members will learn how plants grow and flourish with the right care. The kids don’t need to have a green thumb but they will develop one here!


 

Athletic Programs

The Club offers competitive sports leagues at middle schools as well as Boys & Girls Club of Vista leagues\clinics at our Main Site.

 
 

Academic Success

Our Academic Success programs engage members in high-quality academic programing that supports school day learning and enables youth to be effective, engaged learners who are on track for graduation with a plan for their future.

 

Power Hour/Project Learn

Power Hour helps Boys & Girls Club members ages 6-18 achieve academic success by providing homework support, tutoring and technology engaged activities.

Words Alive!

The purpose of Words Alive is to make reading matter – truly matter – for young people and families in every community in San Diego and beyond, so they have the power to write their own stories. When you become a reader, especially as a young child during crucial stages of brain development, our lives change.

LEGO Engineers

LEGO Engineers believes that LEGOs are a great way to excite children about problem solving and innovative thinking. For schools that are unable to implement instructional programs during the school day, LEGO Engineers club is a fantastic way to engage children in engineering design challenges.

Code Ninjas

Members can become Code Ninjas! Kids love technology, games, and having fun with friends. Kids learn to code through our engaging game-based curriculum that teaches teamwork, logic, math, and problem solving. They gain vital skills while having a blast. Coding experts will be teaching your kids to code, which is a great skill to have in this day and age.

Paper Circuitry

This course will cover the fundamentals of circuit building through fun interactive activities with four simple but effective materials: copper tape, card stock, LEDs, and 2032 coin batteries. Birthday cards will never be the same, neither will the members who’ll discover the multitude of ways to brighten their day through circuitry.

STEM

This Club is set up for members to reach their full potential by supporting their unique youth development journeys. Members will be engaged in STEM activities that nurture their curiosity, inspire creativity and teach them how to succeed. Kids will learn how to solve problems, develop critical-thinking skills, become comfortable with failure and trying again, learn to work successfully in teams, develop self-confidence, and be able to see themselves in STEM careers.

Spanish Club

The Spanish Club is designed for members to become more fluent in the Spanish language and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Members are given opportunities to learn about or experience aspects of Spanish/Hispanic and Latino culture. They also discover the dynamics of Spanish/Hispanic and Latino culture in the US.

 Bella Mente Day Camps

When school is out, the Club is in. We are open for many school breaks holidays. The cost for camp is $30 a day or $130 a week (during full week camp programs) All students must also have an active annual Club membership ($50 a year) which runs August-July.

Presidents’ Day Camp for Bella Mente is only Feb. 14th! Students are still in school on Feb. 13th.

 

Afterschool Registration is now open!  Join our safe and structured fun where Club members explore STEM, workforce development, music, poetry, cooking, sports, leadership groups, and more! Transportation is provided at no additional cost from select schools.

School Year Registration

After school programs include daily academic support and healthy lifestyle activities such as STEM, social-emotional learning, sports, music and art. Learn more about our programs HERE.

All program registrations are now done online or by appointment only if assistance is needed. If you do not already have an account with us, please follow the steps below. For the 2023-24 school year, Before and After School Programs begin Wednesday, August 16th, 2023 and will end Friday, June 5th, 2024.

Do you have or think you might have a child with disabilities such as autism? We have a new partner with the San Diego Regional Center. If you have a child with possible disabilities, please contact the San Diego Regional Center. You may be eligible for free programs at our California Avenue location through the Regional Center through October 2023. Find out more here. For parents that wish to participate in our Main Site programs, please register following the next 4 steps.

STEP 2: If needed, start the process to apply for financial assistance (if there is no need for financial assistance, please skip to Step 3). Please scroll to the bottom of the page for all of our current offerings. If you are currently enrolled in one of our Financial Aid programs, please contact Naomi Wade at (760) 724-6606 or naomi@bgcvista.com before registering online so that the correct price is reflected in your account. Please allow at least a week for enrollment and processing.

STEP 3: Select your programs for the school year. Please read our registration process document above for additional details or help with the new system. Registrations are processed in the order they are received with spaces booked on a first come, first served basis. Military Scholarships available. Free annual $50 membership and 1 week of camp.

We currently offer transportation from Breeze Hill Elementary, Casita Elementary, and Vista Academy to our California Avenue site. We plan on adding additional schools based on demand. If you’d like your school to be added to our route list, please let us know!
